It was created in 2009 by merging the University of Karlsruhe and the Karlsruhe Research Center. It is recognized for its excellence in engineering, natural sciences and computer science. It has distinguished alumni and professors, including Nobel Prize and Leibniz Prize winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within HDLN, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) actively contributes to the development of the Process Design Kit (PDK). In particular, KIT works on modeling and design of high-speed electro-optic modulators based on the HDLN platform and characterizes the resulting devices. To show the full potential of the HDLN platform, KIT will further perform application demonstrations related to ultra-broadband signal processing and to high-speed communications. Founded in 1853 as the \u00c9cole sp\u00e9ciale de Lausanne, it has over 10,000 students of more than 116 nationalities and more than 5,900 employees, including 343 professors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EPFL focuses on the nanofabrication process development for high-density LNOI PIC with ultra-low microwave and optical loss. It will develop a wafer-scale process based on deep-UV lithography that reflects high performance and scalability.
